Foundations of Music

A fresh take on our original Foundations of Music class for first-time musicians. This class is designed for absolute beginners who want general music education and exposure to a variety of instruments. At the end of the session students will choose their primary instrument and be graduated into Foundations Ensemble.

  • Ages: 6-8

  • Class Time: Tuesday or Wednesday 3:30 - 4:15 PM

  • Dates: April 1 - June 18 (no group classes week of April 21.)

  • Enrollment: Open to all first-time musicians within the age range.

  • Focus: Students will learn basic musical concepts like beat, rhythm, melody, and harmony through hands-on experience with piano, drums, and ukulele/guitar. Activities include music circles, body percussion, hand & bucket drumming, and musical games.

  • Instruments: Drums (3 weeks), Keys (3 weeks), Ukulele (3 weeks).

  • Final Performance: In the last two weeks, students will prepare a short repertoire to perform for parents.

  • Prerequisites: No prior experience required.

  • Private Lessons: A 30-minute private lesson is encouraged but not required.

  • Class Length: 11 weeks, 45-minute classes.

  • Next Step: After completing this class, students will move on to the Foundations Ensemble.

  • Price: $37.50 per week, billed monthly, or enjoy a 10% discount when the full season is paid upfront.

  • Enrollment Commitment: Enrollment in all group classes at Peak Music requires a commitment to the full season. We bill monthly, but students can receive a 10% discount if the full season is paid upfront. Please note that students are expected to complete the entire season, as consistency is key to making progress and fully benefiting from the program.
