Introducing Peak Music’s Winter Lineup

We are pleased to announce we have revamped some of our offerings for the winter season!!!

We’re thrilled to announce our Winter 2025 programming at Peak Music! This season, we’re expanding our offerings to bring even more opportunities for musicians of all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner eager to pick up your first instrument, an advanced student aiming to refine your craft, or a young songwriter ready to compose original music, there’s something for everyone. Here’s what’s new for Winter 2025:

1. Foundations of Music

Our Foundations of Music class is a fantastic introduction to the basics of rhythm, melody, harmony, and improvisation. This season, we’ve revamped the curriculum to provide students with hands-on experience in three core instruments: ukulele, drums, and piano. Instead of separate tracks, all students will now rotate through each instrument, spending 3-4 weeks developing foundational skills on each one. This approach gives students a well-rounded understanding of music fundamentals and helps them discover which instrument they connect with most.

By the end of the season, each student will select a primary instrument, graduating into our Foundations Ensemble, where they’ll deepen their skills, learn how to play in a group, and prepare for more advanced music-making.

  • Tuesday or Wednesday (3:30-4:45pm)

  • Ages 6-8

  • January 7 - March 26 (no group classes week of February 24.)

2. Foundations Ensemble

The Foundations Ensemble is designed for kids with 6-24 months of experience who are ready to take their musical abilities to a new level through collaborative music-making. Students will learn the essentials of playing in a group, stage etiquette, and building musical confidence. The season will culminate with a public performance on weekend of March 29.

  • Tuesday or Wednesday (4:30-5:30pm)

  • Ages 7-11

  • January 7 - March 26 (no group classes week of February 24.)

3. Ukulele Explorers

Ukulele Explorers is perfect for young beginners looking to start with the ukulele. Through group activities and games, students will learn basic chords and rhythms, building a strong foundation for future music learning. At the end of the session students will be converted into a guitarist or bassist and graduated into Foundations Ensemble. Each child will need their own ukulele, which can be rented or purchased through Peak Music.

  • Thursday 3:30 - 4:15 PM

  • Ages 6-9

  • January 9 - March 27 (no group classes week of February 24.)

4. Creative Composition

Creative Composition is Peak Music’s group class for young musicians ready to create and share their original songs with the world! In this ongoing class, students will explore songwriting through both individual and collaborative projects, crafting lyrics, melodies, and song structures alongside their peers. Beyond songwriting, students will learn essential music production techniques—like mic placement, signal flow, and recording setup—gaining hands-on experience in the full creative process. The season will culminate in the release of a professionally produced album featuring the class’s work, available on all major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon. Perfect for aspiring songwriters who want to bring their music to life and share it with an audience!

  • Thursday 4:30 - 5:45 PM

  • Ages 9-14

  • January 9 - March 27 (no group classes week of February 24.)

Over the course of the season, students will learn fundamental elements such as rhythm, melody, harmony, and dynamics. They will also engage in fun activities like body percussion, bucket drumming, and outdoor games. The program culminates in a showcase where parents can see their child’s progress.

Peak Music is Open

The opening of PEAK MUSIC

Peak Music has been in the works for over a year at this point. Since moving to Stowe in 2021, my sister has kept telling me there are no music schools or afterschool music classes in the area. When visiting for holidays she would implore me, “Pete move to Stowe and open a school!” The seed was planted and over the last year I have been searching for the right location and time to move and open Peak Music.

Pete & Brandon are siked to be open!

When I first saw the space on 699 S Main Street I was blown away. I thought “this is the spot.” Located just south of downtown the place is easy to get to and a beautiful setting to start teaching private lessons and group classes. Our space upstairs doubles as recording studio and live room, and is where our group classes take place. Downstairs we have our reception area and a private lesson room (renovations to expand and add another lesson room are in the works.)

699 S Main Street the first day I saw it.

For about 15 years I’ve been educating kids and adults in various settings, and it has always been my dream to open a brick and mortar music school. For the past 6 years I have been running my own private teaching business in Peekskill, NY (a friendly town in the Hudson Valley about an hour north of NYC) and I felt like something was missing in my professional life. I wanted to engage more people and spread the love and power of music to a new community. I wanted to hold group classes and teach kids how to write and record their own songs. Stowe is proving to be the perfect place to do that with creative and open minded people that are craving a creative outlet.

It’s been a process setting up gear, making graphics and getting the place ready to host students, but we are finally open. Our first students made their way in last week, and the early feedback has been beyond positive. We held our Foundations of Music class on Thursday which has students learning the fundamentals of music: beat, rhythm, improvisation, keyboarding and percussion techniques. We’ve also had an influx of private lessons on drums, piano and guitar.

We’re looking forward to seeing more new faces in the coming weeks and plan on announcing our full rollout of fall programming in July. Stay tuned for updates, and give us a call or email if you’d like to book a trial lesson or join our Foundations of Music class.
